One Week to S-HELP Event with David Alexander

There's just one week to go until the S-HELP Final Event featuring renowned disaster risk, impact and response expert Professor David Alexander of UCL.

The event takes place on Friday 27th January 2017 in Wood Quay Venue, Dublin. The day will provide a platform for the demonstration of the Decision Support System that has been developed by the project, in addition to providing a forum for speakers and attendees from across the disaster, risk and emergency management sector.

Professor Alexander is a trained geographer and geomorphologist specialising in natural hazards and their consequences, in particular, the characterisation and assessment of vulnerability to major hazards. His teaching focusses on how to formulate and apply emergency plans, both generally and in the context of different contingencies and sectors, including business continuity, cultural heritage protection, medical emergency response and industrial disaster management. He is the author of several books, including Confronting Catastrophe: New Perspectives on Natural Disasters (2001)Principles of Emergency Planning and Management (2002) and How to Write an Emergency Plan (2016)

Other speakers at the event include Professor Lokesh Joshi of NUIG and Jonathan Middleton, International Programmes Manager of the PSNI.
