The Centre for Resilience and Business Continuity (CRBC) within Business Information Systems (UCC-BIS) is a world-class multidisciplinary research group focusing on: IS, Security, Decision-making, Mobile technology, Emergency Management (EM) and learning. It specialises in developing decision-making tools that support: learning, security and healthcare professionals in order to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of public health services and business across all sectors.

The ASSERT (Application of Science to Simulation Education and Research on Training) for Health Centre at UCC represents the next phase in development of the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) for health professionals. ASSERT enhances UCC‘s capability to lead Irish and European endeavours in the domain of TEL (mainly applied to simulation and e-learning).

Magen David Adom in Israel

Magen David Adom in Israel is the National Emergency Medical Service (EMS) for the state of Israel, National Blood Service and the National Red Cross Society. MDA serves 7.8 million inhabitants (the Israeli population) through 11 state of the art operations centres with a highly advanced C4I system, a fleet of around 900 vehicles (basic and advanced life support ambulances, a medical evacuation helicopter, and special operations appliances – all train, motorcycles) all tracked through localisation systems.

Health Service Executive HSE

HSE is the coordination office of An Garda Síochána (the Irish National Police), the Health Service Executive (HSE), and the Local Authorities (Fire Service, Civil Defence Engineering Services) for all interagency emergency planning activity in the region. This includes planning and exercise for Major Emergencies, Critical Infrastructure, Seveso Legislation, Liaison with national and international partners.

The Knowledge Technologies Institute (KTI) at the Graz University of Technology (TUGraz) undertakes interdisciplinary research on Knowledge Management and Technology Enhanced Learning in a broad spectrum of domains, integrating technological and application-oriented perspectives, including cognitive and social science aspects. The technology-oriented research stream focuses on acquiring, managing, and applying semantic metadata and ontologies.
